Churchill Church of England Primary School

P.S.H.E.

At Churchill, we believe that PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) helps pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepare for life and work in modern Britain.

PSHE education aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team working , critical thinking, empathy, and staying safe and healthy. An effective PSHE programme can help tackle barriers to learning, raise aspirations, and improve the life chances of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils.

These skills are taught through PSHE, in other subjects, and also outside class, such as being  a School Councillor, a Playtime Buddy, or taking part in the Debating Club.

SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural ) development is embedded in the whole curriculum and can be seen in the curriculum  overview for each year group.
